Pleasure Island

Pleasure Island...
The name says it all!

From the northern most tip of Carolina Beach to the Southern extension of Fort Fisher you will find seven and a half miles of Vacation Pleasure.

Swim, jet ski, surf, sun, fish, or just stroll along the edge of the water. Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, and Fort Fisher make up the main areas of Pleasure Island.

All three pride themselves on uncrowded clean beaches and reasonably priced accommodations in a friendly atmosphere. There are churches of most denominations located right on the Island. Carolina Beach and Kure Beach have lifeguards on duty from Memorial Day until Labor Day. Located only forty miles from the Gulf Stream, the mild temperatures and warm waters offer endless hours of fun! Accessible from the North by a fixed span bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway on Highway US 421, or from the South by the Southport-Fort Fisher toll ferry; Pleasure Island offers a quiet and restful vacation with a side order of fun and entertainment for all ages!

Carolina Beach
is a unique resort community with a relaxed atmosphere & perfect for a unique site selection. It offers a wide variety of shops, restaurants, accommodations, and amusement parks as well as quiet days under the sun. At the Carolina Beach State Park, you can wind your way through trails in search of the rare Venus Flytrap. For the fisherperson in the family, there are charter boats for deep-sea fishing, a pier, and lots of surf! At night, there are cruises down the Cape Fear River and dancing under the moonlight.

Kure Beach
takes pride in its reputation as a hospitable small town in a beautiful beach setting. Most accommodations are within walking distance of the fishing pier, specialty shops, and fine restaurants. There are public tennis courts available, as well as community parks with swings and slides. There will never be a dull moment in your Kure Beach vacation...unless that is why you go there.

allows you to step back in time at The Fort Fisher Civil War Museum and discover the amazing world of the sea at The North Carolina Aquarium all in one day! You can picnic in the windswept live oaks or spend the day on four miles of undeveloped sunny beach in your four wheel drive. Pleasure Island has unlimited possibilities of fun and adventure awaiting you. A Sea kind of hospitality!
